Low Vision Service at Leighton Hospital and Northwich Victoria Infirmary

A Low Vison Assessment (LVA) can help to make use of remaining vision in those people whose vision cannot be improved by spectacles or contact lenses alone.

We can demonstrate different types of optical aids to maximise vision for daily tasks.

Some optical aids can be provided on extended loan from the hospital.

We can also give advice about other services such as electronic aids, non-optical aids such as lighting, and discuss the use of colour and contrast to help maximise your vision.

Spectacle mounted magnifying lenses may provided following an assessment from our Hospital Optometry team.

You do not need to be registered as visually impaired to access this service.

What should I bring to my appointment?

It is a good idea to bring any spectacles you are currently using and any existing magnifiers, along with examples of tasks that you would like magnification to assist with, for example newspaper, crossword or sewing patterns.

If you have any questions regarding the Low Vision service, please contact the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO):
