The Emergency Department is split across two sites: Leighton Hospital in Crewe and Victoria Infirmary in Northwich. 

The Minor Injuries Unit at Victoria Infirmary is a nurse led service and care is provided by our team of Emergency Nurse Practitioners. The service is open 9am – 8pm 7 days per week and you can read more by clicking here.

The Emergency Department at Leighton hospital is a consultant led service and made up of a majors, resus, isolation and paediatric assessment areas. 

The department is supported by various clinical, nursing and therapy staff members who work hard to see, assess, treat and discharge patients within 4 hours of arrival to the department. The Emergency Department is co-located with our Minors department, Urgent Care and GP Out of Hours services. 

When attending the department a patient will first be assessed by our streaming team who will review clinical need and direct the patient to the most appropriate service to receive the care needed. 

The Emergency Department at Leighton Hospital is accessible 24/7 via the ED Main Entrance.
