The ward is a 24 bedded rehabilitation ward that caters for patients who are in need a higher level of physiotherapy and occupational therapy support in order to regain a level of independence which enables them to return to home or an appropriate supportive destination. Patients admitted to 21B are all medically fit and are cared for by an expert multidisciplinary team including nursing, therapy and GP staff.

Patients are assessed for admission to the ward when deemed to be medically fit and having rehab goals.

The ward is suitable for any patient within the Trust who has experienced a functional decline due to having had a medical, surgical or emergency admission who has been deemed to require a more intensive therapy input to assist in their return to independence.
