The Sterile Services Department (SSD) is based at Leighton Hospital and provides a decontamination service to all wards and departments within the Trust including Victoria Infirmary.
To support a belief in the excellent service provided, and to ensure that all operational activities function to the same level of efficiency and comply with the requirements of the European Directive MDD/93/42/EEC, the SSD operates a Quality Management System to the Standard BS EN ISO 13485: 2016, and has made a Declaration of Conformity to the MDD 93/42 with the MHRA, which is verified and audited by our recognised Notified Body, Intertek Certification Services Ltd. This provides both quality assurances for SSD customers and effective quality management for Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The department forms part of the Surgery & Cancer Division and is headed by the Divisional General Manager and the Service Manager for Theatres, Treatment Centre, and Sterile Services Department.
