Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to announce it has been accredited as Veteran Aware by the Veteran’s Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA).

The accreditation reflects the Trust’s active commitment to recognising the needs of, and forging close links with the Armed Forces Community, particularly with groups such as the Royal British Legion.

Having successfully met the standards set by the VCHA, the accreditation also illustrates the Trust’s strong dedication to support veterans into the civilian workplace.

To celebrate the achievement, as well as Trust's recent attainment of the Silver Award under the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Employer Recognition Scheme, an Armed Forces event was held at Leighton Hospital. Members of staff were invited to come and speak to the team, alongside guests from the Armed Forces community, as well as the British Legion.

Jacqui Broomhall, Corporate Social Responsibilities and Workforce Supply Lead said:

"We are thrilled to have achieved this accreditation, which so clearly reflects our hard work and commitment to being Veteran Aware.

“Throughout this journey, we have made connections with so many brilliant individuals, further supporting our work to recognise staff and patients from the Armed forces community, and strengthening our staff’s understanding of the needs of this community.”

VCHA Regional Lead Mandy Stokes said:

"I am delighted with the excellence of the work carried out by Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I was particularly struck by the effort the Trust has made into forging links with local Armed Forces groups.

“It’s also clear that the Trust is building its commitment to being Veteran Aware into its wider Trust business to make sure that staff understand the needs of the armed forces community.”
