Sister Steph Plimbley started her Nepal trek on April 10th. It took her seven days to reach Base Camp, by which point she had climbed 5,364 metres.

Months of training and dedication went into the challenge, including mountain walks around Snowdonia and regular high intensity classes.

Steph was particularly delighted to have raised £1,300 and reflected on her achievement: “It’s a fantastic feeling to have reached Everest Base Camp and I’ve had great support from colleagues, family and friends. I was lucky not to suffer any aches and pains, but I certainly struggled with the altitude at times!”

The money raised will go towards enhancing the experience of patients who use the new ED, which opened earlier this year.

Carole Salmon, Community Fundraiser for MCH Charity said: “From the moment I spoke to Steph, I was so impressed with her drive and enthusiasm for her fundraising challenge to Everest Base Camp. Congratulations to her for such an amazing effort – the money she has raised will benefit her colleagues and patients in the new Emergency Department.”
