The Cardiology Service looks after adults with heart problems.

We check, treat and support people who have heart conditions or symptoms that may be linked to the heart. Our aim is to help patients feel better, stay well and get the right care at the right time.

Care is provided by Consultants, Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP), Specialist Nurses, Doctors and other healthcare staff. We also work closely with GPs and community teams.

Patients may be seen:

  • In clinic (face to face, by phone or virtually)
  • In hospital if they are admitted

Outpatient Care

Outpatient services are primarily offered at Leighton Hospital. Some patients may be suitable for a virtual pathway of care. This means a hospital visit may not be needed. A consultant will review your health information, such as your referral details, test results, and clinic letters, without you coming to hospital.

Following the review, the consultant may:

  • Give you advice
  • Request further tests
  • Make a treatment plan
  • Decide if you need a face-to-face/telephone appointment
