Membership Constituencies

Members belong to one of three constituencies:

  • Public
  • Patients and Carers
  • Staff and Volunteers

Public Constituency

Anyone aged 16 or over is eligible to join the Trust as a Member. Within the public constituency, Members may join one of the following sub-divisions, known as classes:

People who have received care or treatment from the Trust in the past five years are eligible for membership of the patients, carers and volunteers constituency. So, too, is the relative or friend who is their principal carer at home or anyone who is registered to undertake individual voluntary work with the Trust.

The constituency is divided into three classes:

  • Patients
  • Principal Carer of a Patient Aged Sixteen Years or More
  • Principal Carer of a Patient Aged Fifteen Years or Less

Staff and volunteers

On joining the Trust staff automatically become Members, so that they can become as fully involved in the organisation as possible.

The staff constituency is divided into the following classes:

  • qualified nursing and midwifery staff
  • medical practitioners and dental staff
  • other professionally qualified clinical staff
  • clinical support staff
  • non-clinical support staff
  • recognised representatives of trades unions and staff organisations
  • volunteers
