Patient Belongings

Visiting is currently suspended at the Trust to stop the spread of Covid-19 and to protect patients, visitors and staff. 

To help patients and relatives manage belongings during this time, the Trust is operating a drop off and pick up service for essential items.  

This service is being run from the Main Entrance at Leighton Hospital. Items should not be taken to or collected directly from wards. 

Do not come to the hospital if you have any Covid-19 symptoms. 

What are essential belongings/items?

Examples of essential items are: 

  • Toiletries, such as soap, toothpaste/brush, shower gel, deodorant, face cloth, towel 
  • Clothing/nightwear, such as pyjamas/nightgown, dressing gown, underwear, appropriate footwear. 

Can I bring food for my family member/friend?

Food should be kept to a minimum and only be individually wrapped or packaged items such as biscuits, crisps and chocolates. Diluting/mineral drinks are also allowed. 

Homemade or takeaway foods are not permitted. 

When can items be dropped off/picked up?

The drop off/collection service is available at the main entrance at Leighton Hospital between 7am and 7pm, seven days a week.

What is the process for dropping off and collecting items?

  • Only one relative/friend should bring or collect items and should report to the main entrance at Leighton Hospital 
  • Please ensure you are wearing a face covering and keep 2 metres apart from others at all times 
  • If you are dropping items off, hand the bag containing personal belongings to a member of still who will place the items in an additional bag, note the patient’s details and then arrange delivery to the ward 
  • If picking items up, let the member of staff know the patient’s name and the ward they are on. Wait in the main reception area (ensuring social distancing) until the staff member returns from the ward with the items.
