Occupational Therapy

What is occupational therapy?

Occupational Therapy is the treatment of physical and psychiatric conditions through specific activities. This helps people reach their maximum level of activity and independence in all aspects of their daily life.

The Community Health Adult Occupational Therapy Team offers a service to patients with a primary diagnosis of physical dysfunction.

Assessment and rehabilitation treatment mostly takes place in the patient's home.

Do you have difficulty with any of these?

  • personal care

  • household tasks

  • memory, concentration and organisational skills

  • work

  • leisure

If you have problems in any of these areas, an Occupational Therapist would undertake an assessment.

Referrals to the community health occupational therapist should be made by your consultant, doctor, or authorised professional.
