Improving Theatres and Intensive Care

Artist's representation of new building

Building work on new multi-million pound operation theatres and critical care facilities at Leighton Hospital in Crewe is now complete, and the first patients have been treated in the new environments.

The £22.8million project, supported by Government funding of £21.69million announced in March 2012, has enabled Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) to further improve the quality and safety of patient care and secure the future sustainability of the Trust. The new building has replaced the existing theatres, along with the existing Intensive Care and High Dependency units, with state-of-the-art services.

The Critical Care Unit moved into their new facilities on Monday, March 31, 2014, with Operating Theatres moving on Monday, April 28, 2014.

This section of the MCHFT website will provide you with further information about the project, as well as photographs of the progress to date.
