The Digital Clinical System (DCS) will create:
- a state-of-the-art electronic patient record
- new ways of working.
This large-scale transformation programme aims to bring huge improvements for staff and patients. Paper records will eventually be replaced by digital records. The programme also plans to retire a number of outdated systems. It will:
- provide a state-of-the-art, digital source of information;
- ensure information is available to the right people, in the right place, at the right time;
- improve to staff and patients’ experiences;
- support safety;
- help to share information with health and care partner organisations.
The design and development of the DCS is being led by our staff, in partnership with system supplier MEDITECH. Work to build the system is expected to continue until spring 2024. The team will then test the system and training for staff will follow in summer 2024. The DCS is expected to launch in September 2024.
The DCS is a joint programme between our trust and East Cheshire NHS Trust - one the largest projects ever undertaken by either of our organisations and an important part of wider plans to deliver the best care and embrace digital technology.
